- First Line Privacy Lead - Alexion Data Office
Location: Barcelona, Spain (On-site) 3 days/week working from the office.
The Privacy Lead is a critical role that will lead the implementation of privacy controls across the EUCAN (EU-Canada) region, while aligning with broader business objectives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all data practices adhere to privacy laws and other data regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices. This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of data privacy and accountability. The role will be based in Barcelona and report to Jessica Jolly, Global Head - Alexion Data Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct various first-line privacy advice activities in support of the EU / Canada medical & commercial organizations, including (but not limited to)
- Privacy reviews and Privacy Impact Assessments for business activities,
- Establishment and maintenance of data inventories (ROPA),
- the response to data incidents and data subject access requests,
- clinical trial-related privacy advice including the review and maintaining of Informed Consent Form (ICF) templates, advice on the use of human biological samples, primary and secondary use of trial data, etc.
- Track and address data privacy risks across the supported functions and report on privacy risk posture.
- Monitor global privacy developments to anticipate and implement appropriate controls for emerging privacy risks.
- Leverage and promote Global Privacy Standards, tools and processes to ensure that privacy is consistently addressed across the organization; support EUCAN country first-line privacy officers in implementing global Privacy program.
- Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and Global Privacy Office stakeholders, including data owners, data stewards, business users, and the Data Protection Officer.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data privacy related inquiries from the supported organizations; Effectively communicate data privacy requirements to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with enterprise Privacy Leads, IT, legal, compliance, and other teams on strategic determinations and matters requiring cross-disciplinary analyses.
- Coordinate training and drive privacy literacy across supported functions
- Actively contribute to Alexion / AstraZeneca Privacy network initiatives and activities
- Contribute to other AZ (non-Privacy) data standard compliance programs
You will need to have:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in data governance, compliance, and privacy, in pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors, with proven expertise in global data privacy regulations.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of privacy by design and artificial intelligence.
Initiative:
- Demonstrated ability to identify issues in a business environment, and proactively address them
Commercial awareness:
- Track record in providing pragmatic, commercially sound advice
Communication Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team and fast paced environment.
